Researchers at the University of Waterloo are using artificial intelligence to gain new insights on how to reduce wear-and-tear injuries and boost productivity of skilled construction workers. The studies are using motion sensors and artificial intelligence software to learn how expert bricklayers are limiting the loads on their joints. This knowledge will then be passed on to apprentices in training programs.

The researchers are also working to develop a system using sensor suits that will give trainees immediate feedback so they can modify their movements and reduce stress on their bodies.
