Webinar: Who Pays For Roads, and How?

Discuss a 50-state review of transportation governance and finance

Last June AASHTO and NCSL published “Transportation Governance and Finance: A 50-State Review of State Legislatures and Departments of Transportation.” The report focused on transportation finance and the roles and relationships among branches of state government that are most active in transportation issues.

AASHTO and NCSL, plus the National League of Cities and National Association of Regional Councils, will hold a webinar on Tuesday, noon to 2pm (ET), to discuss the report.

"Roads and bridges: Who pays for them and how?" (3:24 minutes) is a pretty good explanation of where road funds come from in Michigan, and how the state spends them.

"The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has put together this video to explain the main sources of funding for roads and bridges, how funding doesn’t go as far as it used to, and ways MDOT is doing more with less.”
