The state of Wisconsin has repealed its 82-year-old prevailing wage law. The state's repeal measure leaves a minimal prevailing wage system intact for state-funded projects of a certain size but repeals the system for all locally funded construction work. The repeal was part of the approved $73 billion state budget plan.
The budget also settled on borrowing $850 million for road projects, which is less than the $1.3 billion proposed by Governor Scott Walker. The lesser amount will likely postpone completion of some road projects during the next two years.
