Dispute Arises Over Millions in Change Orders for Construction of Minnesota Vikings New Stadium

Contractor, architect and board overseeing construction are negotiating millions in change orders with the amount being estimated between $15 million to $50 million

Star Tribune

Construction of the new $1.1 billion Minnesota Vikings football stadium is 65% complete but has also encountered disputes over the costs and responsibility for change orders and costs adjustments.

Outgoing treasurer of the panel overseeing construction claims costs could range between $35 million to $50 million while the panel's executive director and chairwoman claim the amount is "significantly less" than the $29 million in the authority's construction contingency fund.

The dispute is between contractor Mortensen, architect HKS and Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority (MSFA) which is overseeing construction. Millions of dollars in change orders and being discussed and negotiated privately, but how much and who is responsible might still be up for debate.
