Tishman Construction, Trinity Group Construction, DVA Architects and Greystar have all been brought on board to plan, develop and built a new $500 million "smart city" in Ashburn, VA. George Washington University, the Center for Innovative Technology and Microsoft are also partnering on the technology side of the development.
Known as the Gramercy District, the 16-acre project will sit adjacent to the future Ashburn Metro station and plans to include three residential buildings, a hotel, retail, one office building, a business center, two parking garages and a series of public plazas and open spaces.
The plans for the project will follow the yet-undeveloped "Smart City In-a-Box" platform which will link together all aspects of real estate development with a preconfigured, intelligent framework that will be repeatable, efficient, sustainable and economical.
The developer plans to deliver the first phase in 2018.
