Senate Transport Appropriations Subcommittee Approves Highway Bill

The Senate Appropriations Transportation and Housing subcommittee unanimously approved a 2012 spending bill that maintains highway/transit funding at close to current levels. The bill continues funding for Amtrak but zeros out other high-speed rail funding. $550 million would be provided for another TIGER program.

The full Senate Appropriations Committee is scheduled to act on, and is expected to approve, the draft bill on Wednesday.
