GCC Acquires Multiple CEMEX Operations

GCC (Grupo Cementos de Chihuahua) a manufacturer and distributor of cement, ready-mixed concrete and innovative solutions for the construction industries in Mexico and the United States, announced the acquisition of multiple CEMEX operations. This acquisition includes one cement plant located in Odessa, Texas, two cement terminals located in El Paso and Amarillo, Texas and one construction materials business located in El Paso, Texas and Las Cruces, N.M., which is comprised of eight ready mix plants, six aggregate plants, five asphalt plants and five distribution centers.

Enrique Escalante, CEO of GCC noted that “This acquisition is a significant step forward in our Sustainable Growth strategy. With these assets and the new employees who will join the company, we will strengthen our competitive advantage, increase our portfolio of products and improve our operations by sharing best practices.”

With the addition of these locations, the GCC family will increase to nearly 3,500 employees. No operational closures are planned as a result of this acquisition, and all existing locations will continue with their current product offerings.

Ron Henley, President of GCC of America, shared the company’s vision for this acquisition.
