Construction Company Fined $200K after Worker Killed by Falling Concrete Panel

Ontario’s Ministry of Labour says the panel would not have toppled if it had been secured at all times.

J.N.D. Erectors Limited has been fined $200,000 after a worker was fatally crushed by a cement panel in Toronto in 2017.

Ontario’s Ministry of Labour says the incident took when the construction company was transferring cement panels from a truck using a crane. The ministry says one of the panels, which weighed more than 2,700 kilograms, shifted and fell on top of the worker.

After investigation, the ministry found the panel would not have toppled if it had been secured at all times.
