Connecticut Concrete Promotion Council Sponsors Contractor Training Seminar

Build with Strength, a coalition of the NRMCA, in conjunction with the CCPC and the ICFMA, announces a contractor training course on concrete and the use of insulated concrete forms for multi-family residential and low rise commercial construction.

Build with Strength, a coalition of the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA), in conjunction with the Connecticut Concrete Promotion Council (CCPC) and the Insulated Concrete Forms Manufacturing Association (ICFMA) , is pleased to announce a contractor training course on concrete and the use of insulated concrete forms (ICFs) for multi-family residential and low rise commercial construction. The half day training seminar, which features presentations from ICFMA member manufacturers and the NRMCA, will be held Thursday, December 6, 2018 at the Sheraton Four Points in Meriden, Connecticut. Interested attendees can register here for more information (select Hartford CT) https://www.nrmca.org/Education/Seminars/icfs.asp

The half day training session on the construction of multi-family residential dwellings and low-rise commercial buildings using ICF’s (Insulated concrete forms) is targeted for concrete contractors, masonry contractors, wood framers and those allied to construction. The session will be presented in three modules and will include presentations by National Ready Mixed Concrete Association and representatives of the ICFMA.  Sponsors include Build With Strength, NRMCA, ICFMA, the Connecticut Ready Mixed Concrete Association, and the CT Concrete Promotion Council.

ICFMA Chair, Andy Lennox, comments, “The Insulating Concrete Manufacturers Association is very pleased to be working with Build With Strength to present these much-needed ICF Installer Training Courses. The number of mid-rise and commercial structures being designed with ICFs is rapidly increasing and these courses are a key part of a concerted effort to grow the pool of installers that will bid and build these projects. “

NRMCA Executive Vice President of Structures and Sustainability, Lionel Lemay says, “There is a growing trend towards the use of insulated concrete forms in current construction, particularly in light of the many multi-story structure fires that are built with wood. Concrete and ICFs offer a fire-resistant system for low to mid-rise multi-family projects. Build With Strength has partnered with the ICFMA to bring this training session to concrete contractors and others that may not be familiar with the use of ICF’s. It is by no means meant to be the only training course on insulated concrete forms, but rather a starting point to educate contractors on the ease of use. Our sessions will include hands-on demonstrations with actual ICF forms.”

Dominic Di Cenzo of the Connecticut Concrete Promotion Council remarked, “We appreciate the Build With Strength, the NRMCA and ICFMA’s interest in promoting insulated concrete form construction. We expect to have an informative seminar for Connecticut concrete contractors interested in this rapidly growing segment of construction. ICF construction is becoming a popular solution in multi-family residential and low-rise commercial construction. This system provides contractors and building owners durability, fire resistance and ease of construction.”
