SpecChem, LLC, an industry leading supplier of quality concrete construction building materials, recently acquired a 50% interest in leading decorative concrete manufacturer Aggretex Systems, LLC.
“The concrete market continues to evolve, and we are seeing more and more applications in the decorative space,” says Greg Maday, Chairman and CEO of SpecChem. “We liked Aggretex’s position in the space and see enormous upside for synergy between our two companies, thus our investment.”
Aggretex Systems has been an increasingly active participant in the decorative exterior market since being acquired by Curt Thompson’s group in 2015. Thompson is a long-time flooring industry veteran in the process of expanding Aggretex’s presence nationally. “The decorative concrete space and the traditional flooring market are colliding. The impact on flooring products from concrete related materials has been staggering over the last 10 years,” says Thompson, President and CEO. “Our new relationship with SpecChem has now resulted in the launch of our InteriorEFX products which will take what we have been doing in the exterior market and bringing it indoors at an even greater rate.”
Similarly, Maday sees Aggretex as an opportunity to bring many of their cementitious materials into the flooring space. “While the space is relatively crowded with industry stalwarts, there is significant opportunity for domestic producers who have tremendous flexibility in how, where, and what we produce. Curt’s experience and relationships will prove invaluable as we expand into this area.”
The newly forged relationship has resulted in the creation of AggretexSC, LLC. While the businesses will share resources and technology, the companies will continue to run independently. AggretexSC, LLC will continue to be headquartered in Tracy, Calif. under Curt’s leadership.
