The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) announced today that its Board of Directors has selected Michael Philipps to serve as president, effective March 8, 2019. Philipps comes to NRMCA with more than 30 years of experience in the concrete products and construction industry, most recently as vice president of business development, construction materials, for Sandler Training. Prior to that, he served in various vice president-level sales development positions with CEMEX USA and sales management/director of sales/global key accounts positions with W.R. Grace & Co.’s Grace Performance Chemicals Division.

William Childs, chairman of the Presidential Search Committee, notes, “Mike was the clear choice in the eyes of the search committee given his ability to lead, guide, motivate and train people, his ability to effectively work with existing and new members, an exhibited track record of success and knowledge of NRMCA’s membership, and his predictive ability to advance the association, its membership and our industry.”

Philipps comments, “I am honored to be given the opportunity to continue the outstanding work the Association does for our members and the industry.”

Rodney Grogan, NRMCA chairman of the Board adds, “I would first like to thank Bill Childs and the members of the search committee for the thorough job they did in identifying Mike as the best person to lead NRMCA forward. Filling Bob Garbini’s shoes in this role after his 27 years of service will not be easy, but I believe the NRMCA Board has selected an individual who, with his experience and relationships in the industry, will help provide the needed leadership for the success of our association, our members and the industry into the future.”

Last November, current President Robert Garbini announced his retirement effective March 7, but he will remain in an ad-hoc consulting capacity for a period of time to support the transition in leadership.

NRMCA represents the producers of ready mixed concrete and the companies that provide materials, equipment and support to the industry. Founded in 1930, NRMCA actively promotes the use of concrete. The association provides its members with education, training, promotion, research, engineering, safety, environmental, technological, lobbying and regulatory programs to enhance the profitability and professionalism of the industry.
