A Federal Aviation Administration task force recommends the government set up a simple registration system for anyone who owns an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), sometimes called “drone,” heavier than 250 grams, which is about half a pound.
Key points:
- The recommendations aren't the rules yet
- Recommendations focus on registering the owner, not each drone
- Name and address are the only registration requirements
- Don’t fall for registry scams
- All the other rules stand until further notice
Task Force Recommendations Final Report
(more on recommended UAV registration . . . )
