Dexter + Chaney will use Spectrum's customizable Dashboard to expand access to all employees of companies that use Spectrum. Without the need to purchase additional licenses, a company can choose to give access to the Spectrum Dashboard to any and all employees.

“The value of software isn’t just in the depth of its features,” said John Chaney, CEO of Dexter + Chaney. “Value also depends on the breadth of accessibility. Everyone in a company needs reliable, up-to-date information to do their job. With the new all-access Dashboard, Spectrum makes it significantly easier to keep all employees informed, keep them equipped with information, and help them work better together.”

The Spectrum Dashboard includes a large number of pre-built apps that each user can choose to place on their desktop. The apps tie directly into Spectrum’s database, ensuring that all the information presented is up-to-the-minute accurate. Users with appropriate permission can modify apps, and with some minimal training can create custom apps themselves. Examples of pre-built Dashboard apps include graphical reports of construction job cost, cash flow alerts, job progress, change order notifications, to-do lists, and even RSS feeds from relevant online media.

“Three aspects of our technology have allowed us to open up Spectrum through the Dashboard,” said Geoff Falk, Spectrum product manager. “First, Spectrum has been designed for a cloud computing environment, meaning anyone can pick up virtually any device with a browser and log in to their system from wherever they are working. Second, combining a web-based graphical interface with a powerful SQL database engine enables easy access to information and the tools to present that information in simple, understandable formats.

"Finally, we made sure that the system was secure, giving system administrators full control over user access to Dashboard apps, letting companies manage the flow of information to different groups or individuals.”

The Spectrum Dashboard is a key feature of every Spectrum Construction Software system. Licensed users enjoy full Dashboard functionality, including the ability to drill down to financial or operational details directly from Dashboard apps.

“To us, the Dashboard is more than a nice screen to see when you log in,” said Chaney. “It’s an intelligent, flexible and accessible portal to help you manage complex work and information. And it is a portal that we will continue to build on. Look for new Dashboard features from us in the near future.”
