Another deadly crane collapse has made news after one person died and six others were injured on June 9, 2019, when a construction crane fell onto an apartment building and parking garage in downtown Dallas. The crane accident occurred during a severe storm with strong winds, which was likely the cause of the accident.
According to a report from ABC News, the crane fell into the structure causing multiple collapses in different parts of both the residential portion and parking garage.

This accident comes on the heels of another crane collapse just over a month ago in Seattle that killed four people. The Seattle crane accident is still under investigation but was likely caused by early removal of bolts and high winds as well.
As crane collapse accidents continue to be a problem, it raises the questions of what can be done to minimize these accidents. Crane safety has become an increasing important topic of conversation, but what, if anything, can be done to improve safety once a crane is in place, especially as weather continues to worsen.
