Almost exactly two years after shaking up the market with an all-new platform on its medium frame skid steers and compact track loaders, Wacker Neuson is launching the Series II large frame models. Available in early 2019, the SW24, SW28, ST35 and ST45 offer the latest enhanced cab design and service accessibility. As the big brother to the medium frame line, they deliver both parts commonality and a proven design.
The Series II large frame models include two skid steers (SW) and two compact track loaders (ST). All are powered by a 74.3-hp Kohler diesel engine and offer standard auxiliary hydraulic flow of 22.1 gpm and optional flow of 31.7 gpm. Operating weights range from 7,840 to 10,267 lbs., with rated operating capacities from 2,400 to 4,500 lbs. (50% of tipping load). Radial lift models (SW24 and ST35) have a 126.8-in. hinge pin height, while the vertical lift loaders (SW28 and ST45) have 134.8-in. hinge pin heights.
As with the medium frame models, the cab fully tips forward with the loader arms down, providing complete access to all maintenance components. The machines offer a simple, open design and efficient layout that requires less time on daily service checks. The diesel engines have a maintenance-free, regeneration-free aftertreatment system.
Repositioned joysticks promote intuitive and comfortable operation. The high-visibility cab includes angled pedals and foot bed, as well as conveniently located switches designed to reduce operator fatigue. Access in and out is easy with a wide door and step, plus there is no restrictive lap bar. Control options include mechanical hand-foot (SW models), electric-hydraulic (EH) hand-foot and selectable EH (ISO and H-pattern).
All models have standard 40-gal. fuel tanks; an optional 50-gal. tank is available for track loaders. A variable-speed cooling fan provides on-demand cooling of the engine to maximize efficiency, improve fuel economy and assist in cold starts.
An updated 5.7-in. full-color display is standard on most models (optional on SW models with mechanical hand-foot controls) and offers expanded functionality that allows for a variety of customizable options and controls. A rear view camera can be added and set for backup only or on at all times for maximum visibility.
