JCB has secured a $205 million contract to supply 535 militarized 437HT wheel loaders to the U.S. Marine Corps, marking the company's third consecutive competitive tender win from the military branch.
The award is part of the Marine Corps' Tractor, Rubber Tired, Articulated-Steering Multi-Purpose (TRAM) vehicle program. The contract follows two previous Marine Corps orders: a $45 million deal for militarized 4CX backhoe loaders and a $39 million contract for militarized JCB Teleskid compact tracked loaders.
The 437HT wheel loader, based on JCB's commercial 437 platform, underwent extensive evaluation before selection. The machine features strong lift capability, efficient cycle times and a CommandPlus cab with ROPS/FOPS safety protection. JCB will deliver test machines to the Marine Corps later this year, with full production expected to begin in 2027.
The machines will be manufactured at JCB's North American headquarters in Savannah, Georgia, supporting both military operations and domestic manufacturing jobs. The facility currently employs more than 1,000 people.
JCB's military equipment portfolio includes purpose-built machines such as the High Mobility Engineer Excavator (HMEE) and Light Capability Rough Terrain Forklift (LCRTF), alongside militarized versions of commercial equipment. The company is also investing $500 million in a new factory in San Antonio, Texas, representing its largest investment to date.
Beyond equipment supply, JCB maintains veteran support programs including hiring initiatives, career transition assistance and partnerships with organizations like VetsAid.
