Hyundai Construction Equipment Debuts Mid-sized Excavator Suited Utility Applications

Debuted at the 2021 Utility Expo, the HX160AL crawler excavator is suited for public works/municipalities, pipeline, septic installs and other utility applications.

Hyundai Hx160 Al The Utility Expo 2021

Hyundai Construction Equipment Americas’ exhibit at the 2021 Utility Expo featured the newly arrived HX160AL crawler excavator, a mid-sized machine for utility applications such as public works/municipalities, pipeline, septic installs, etc.

The HX160AL excavator is equipped with a Cummins-B4.5 Stage V-compliant diesel engine which produces 152 net hp. The new emissions system is equipped with a diesel particulate filter (DPF) that incorporates passive regeneration, deleting the need for exhaust gas recirculation (EGR). This has improved power by 13% and peak torque by 27% over the previous model. The reduction in complexity also improves reliability and provides up to 11% fuel savings.

The newly integrated Intelligent Power Control (IPC) mode and improved RCV levers enable finer and more precise control and reduce operator fatigue.

Features included on all A-Series excavators include:

  • Lift mode to provide precise control when needed by simultaneously controlling power/speed and maintaining it throughout the lift cycle
  • Auto safety lock prevents unintended hydraulic operation
  • Optional All Around View Monitoring (AAVM) system provides a 360° aerial view around the machine and can be coupled with Intelligent Moving Objects Detection (IMOD)
  • IMOD alerts operator to the presence of anything within a 16.5-ft. range of operation with an audible alarm and color changes via the 8-in. monitor
