Komatsu's GD655-6 motor grader is Tier 4 Final certified with a 218-hp Komatsu SAA6D107E-3 engine the company says burns 5% less fuel in "power mode" and 15% less fuel in "economy mode" compared to the previous motor grader model.
- Dual-mode transmission incorporates a powershift transmission with eight forward speeds and four reverse speeds, coupled to the SAA6D107E-3 engine by both a torque converter and a direct drive lock-up clutch
- Driveline provides on-the-go, full power shifting as well as inching capabilities and automatic shifting in the higher ranges
- Engine stall prevention controlled electronically and automatically by disengaging the lock-up clutch when handling heavy loads
- Auto idle shutdown turns off engine after an idle-time interval which is set by operator
- Komatsu Variable Geometry Turbocharger (KVGT) and Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve for precise temperature and air management control
- Engine incorporates Selective Catalyst Reduction (SCR) and advanced electronic control system to manage the airflow rate, fuel injection, combustion parameters and after treatment functions
- Control system integrated into on-board diagnostics systems and KOMTRAX telematics system
