Caterpillar to Close NC Facility

Equipment manufacturer expects 80 of the Precision Seals plant's 122 employees to be “separated” from the company by next summer

Caterpillar disclosed via mandatory regulatory filing that it will close a North Carolina facility – the “Precision Seals” plant in Franklin with about 122 full-time employees.

The equipment manufacturer expects 80 employees to be “separated” from the company by next summer.

Caterpillar layed off employees at its Global Information Services division in Illinois, and 2,100 salaried employees in the United States recently took early retirement plans.
