Loftness has added a new option to its Battle Ax lineup with the launch of the 10 Series mulching head. Designed for compact excavators in the 7,000- to 10,000-pound range, the 10 Series brings a lightweight build without sacrificing cutting performance.
Engineered for jobs like vegetation management, site prep, invasive species removal, and fire prevention, the 10 Series gives contractors working with smaller machines access to the same two-stage cutting chamber found on larger Battle Ax models. The system features dual shear bars to more thoroughly process material.
The rotor incorporates depth gauges that function like raker teeth on a chainsaw, helping regulate how much material enters the drum at once. This results in easier operation and improved particle size consistency.
Powered by a 45cc fixed-displacement gear motor, the 10 Series requires 20–70 hydraulic horsepower and 15–19.9 GPM of hydraulic flow. It has a 25-inch cutting width and weighs about 620 pounds, making it compatible with a wide range of compact excavators.
Users can choose between three cutting tooth options: reversible planer teeth, four-point beaver teeth, or double-carbide teeth. Each is mounted with a single bolt for fast replacement or reversal in the field. The teeth are arranged in a spiral pattern to ensure balanced rotation and efficient cutting.
Additional options include a spade hook to help with positioning material during operation.
The 10 Series joins the existing Battle Ax range, which includes models for excavators up to 88,000 pounds, expanding Loftness' offerings for compact equipment users seeking high-performance mulching attachments.
