Makita has introduced the new 18V LXT brushless jig saw (XVJ04Z). The XVJ04Z is engineered to deliver the power and performance of a corded jig saw, but without the hassles of a cord. It is designed for professional woodworkers, cabinetry makers, specialized residential construction workers and pro-contractors.

“The new 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless Jig Saw is part of the expanding lineup of cordless woodworking tools,” said Rudy Jansen, product marketing manager, residential construction. “It is both lightweight and compact, offers orbital cutting settings, and has a Makita-built brushless motor that offers faster cutting speeds.”

Performance

The new 18V LXT Brushless Jig Saw, (XVJ04Z) can be used to cut a variety of materials. The variable speed control dial (0-3,000 SPM) enables users to match the speed of the tool to the application. In addition, the brushless motor is electronically controlled to manage battery energy and runtime. The XJV04Z offers three orbital settings plus straight cutting for use in a wide range of materials.

Design

The design of the XJV04Z allows the tool to be utilized in tight spaces while offering control in complex or intricate cutting situations. This tool weighs 5.5 lbs. with the battery installed (battery sold separately). The base bevels and locks from 0°- 45° left or right for bevel cuts.

Features

The jig saw is engineered with a soft start mode. When engaged, the soft start mode facilitates direct starting cuts by initially reducing the blade speed when the trigger is first pulled and increasing the speed of the blade when it engages the material. There is a two-finger variable speed trigger that features a lock-on button. The XVJ04Z features an electronic brake.

The XVJ04 has a built-in LED light that illuminates the work area when the tool is in operation and stays on for a brief period of time after the trigger is released. There is also a built-in dust blower that cleans the line of cut. It features tool-less blade changes for blade installation and removal.
