Metabo HPT has announced the newest additions to its cordless lineup with the launch of a 36V MultiVolt Brushless 4-1/2-in. Variable Speed Paddle Switch Angle Grinder (model G3612DVFQ6), a 36V MultiVolt Brushless 4-1/2-in. Variable Speed Slide Switch Angle Grinder (model G3612DVEQ6) and a 36V MultiVolt Brushless 6-in. Variable Speed Paddle Switch Angle Grinder (model G3615DVFQ6).
These new 36V MultiVolt grinders are sold as tool body only and are part of the MultiVolt System of power tools from Metabo HPT. They accept any 18V-36V MultiVolt battery for power and runtime, as well as accept an AC Adapter - model ET36A (all sold separately) to plug in for all day use.
Six speed settings (3,200 rpm to 10,000 rpm for the 4-1/2-in. models and 3,200 rpm to 8,000 rpm for the 6-in. model) plus auto mode (5,500 rpm) enable polishing or finishing, removing paint, rust and burrs, grinding or rough grinding.
Provided safety features include brake safety functions that stop the wheels from spinning when the switch-paddles are released. Kickback protection shuts off the power in the event of a bound wheel. Zero voltage restart prevents restarting if the power is temporarily cut during operation. Soft start reduces the load felt by the user during startup. Drop shut off stops the motor if the tool is dropped (G3612DVEQ6 model only); and overload protection stops the motor when too much pressure is applied to protect the motor and gear box from damage. The no-lock paddle switch grinders cannot be activated unless the lock-off lever is pushed down to avoid unintentional starting (G3612DVFQ6 and G3615DVFQ6 paddle switch grinders only).
Tool-less wheel guards and three-position anti-vibration side handles are available on the tools. Removable dust screens offer protection for the motors against dust and debris. The dust and water-resistant switches add durability. These grinders offer dual LED lights located on both sides of the gear housing to provide bright light during use. They also weigh just 5.1-lbs. (4-1/2-in. models) and 5.3-lbs. (6-in. model) for mobility.
These cordless tools from Metabo HPT have the ability to transform to corded use with the AC adapter (model ET36A, sold separately). Users can get the functionality of two tools (cordless and corded) in one product. Use the 36V cordless grinders when it makes sense on the job. However, if power is readily available, save battery life and the cost of battery replacements by plugging into an outlet.
The grinders come with 4-1/2-in. abrasive wheels and 4-1/2-in. tool-less wheel guards (G3612DVFQ6 and G3612DVEQ6), or a 6-in. abrasive wheel and 6-in. tool-less wheel guard (G3615DVFQ6), side handle, spanner wrench, hex bar wrench and carrying bag. They accept the 18V-36V 8.0Ah-4.0Ah MultiVolt battery, 18V-36V 5.0Ah-2.5Ah MultiVolt battery and the AC adapter with cord (ET36A), all sold separately.
