Mark Williams, Board Chairman of the Partner Alliance for Safer Schools (PASS) answers more questions about himself.
Describe a typical day in the office (or on location):
No such thing as a typical day at PASS. Variety is the spice of life. It could be conducting a PASS Partner training, a webinar, responding to a school inquiry, endorsing safe school legislation in DC or working on a new presentation or update to our Guidelines and Checklist.
How did you come to work in the door safety and security industry:
I became involved in this industry quite by accident. I was working for a distributor in a logistics capacity. I got interested in how plans and specs became orders and how the products went onto projects. I learned how to do take-offs and interpret specifications. I enjoyed working with architects and end users to solve problems. I really enjoy the consultative nature of the business.
Using ONE word, describe the door safety and security industry OR your role (please tell us which one you are describing):
Dynamic.
If you weren’t in the door safety and security industry, what do you think you would be doing professionally:
I would most likely be in an entrepreneurial role in my own business. Probably sales oriented.
Hobbies/Interests:
Being a Grandpa. Motorcycles, fly fishing, hiking, snow shoeing, tennis and golf.
One “hope” for the door safety and security industry:
That it evolves and remains a consultative industry focused on the safety and security of building occupants across all vertical market segments.
