An overpass allowing mountain lions and other wildlife to safely cross California's 101 is moving forward after Caltrans recenetly released an environmental assessment for the project and plans to also do public outreach. According to the National Parks Service, the overpass is still on track, and if funding goals are met it will begin construction in 2022.

The project is designed “to help reduce wildlife mortality and enhance safety for motorists by reducing motorists’ sudden movements when avoiding animals crossing the freeway,” says a Caltrans announcement.
