Designed as a direct response to input from rental customers, the D900HAF portable air compressor is the latest model in Sullivan-Palatek’s Cat powered lineup. Blasting, drilling, and demolition contractors requested a high-powered, smaller in size, and relatively lightweight compressor that could be easily loaded on a truck with the lifting equipment they already have on their worksites.
The D900HAF portable compressor is powered by a 300 hp Cat C7.1 engine that meets U.S. Tier 4 Final/EU Stage V emission standards. Delivering high power density ideal for applications requiring powerful yet compact solutions, the Cat C7.1 engine was specified as the optimal choice for the new compressor because it’s designed to be 40% lighter in weight than 9-L. platforms. Contractors can easily load the D900HAF compressor on a truck without having to use a high-capacity crane or forklift.
Less weight also means greater fuel efficiency during transport, making them even more well-suited for rental customers that often bring compressors on a worksite and take them from one job to the next. Renting also allows the customer to match a unit to any upcoming task – no matter the worksite or application – without having to navigate through the buying logistics.
In addition, the D900HAF compressor features the Sullivan-Palatek Electronic Control System, which enables users to dial in the exact pressure for precise, fuel-efficient operation. The compressor can be used to operate jackhammers, air sanders, air-impact wrenches, grinders, and other air-powered tools that are essential for blasting, drilling, and construction projects. Large access doors make the D900HAF compressor service-friendly, and its rugged galvanneal enclosure is designed to withstand harsh environments.
When Sullivan-Palatek first created the concept for the D900HAF compressor, the company turned to their Cat dealer, Michigan Cat, for assistance in making the new product production-ready.
Michigan Cat worked closely with the Sullivan-Palatek engineering group through the product-development process. This involved assessing the group’s technical needs, specifying a customized power solution, synchronizing the engine with the Sullivan-Palatek electronic control system, creating a 3D engine model to confirm a proper fit, and completing an installation audit to ensure the compressor would meet customer expectations.
All of these steps led to completion of the final product, which is already attracting a lot of interest from contractors, especially in the rental sector, who can benefit from it.
“We have a very large base of customers who prefer Cat engines,” said Austin Wilkins, portable division sales manager at Sullivan-Palatek. “Our D900HAF compressor with the Cat C7.1 engine provides the power and flexibility they need for their air-powered equipment.”
Offering the industry’s widest range of portable diesel and industrial electric rotary screw air compressors, Sullivan-Palatek is the only compressor manufacturer owned and operated in North America.
