Caterpillar Inc. has introduced a 3.1 MW power node for its Cat G3520 Fast Response natural-gas generator set, marking the company’s largest single-unit output with fast-start capability for standby power and demand response.
Now available globally, the generator is built for facilities that require uninterrupted power, including hospitals, data centers, emergency services and high-occupancy buildings. It can start and accept load from a cold start in under 10 seconds, meeting NFPA 110 standards. Units are offered in both 50 Hz and 60 Hz configurations for use worldwide.
The G3520 Fast Response model also supports participation in utility demand response programs that compensate users for reducing electricity use during peak periods. When paired with a Distributed Energy Resource Management System such as Cat AMP, customers can automate enrollment and tracking for these programs.
Caterpillar said the new generator is designed to deliver natural-gas performance comparable to diesel systems while helping operators improve energy resilience.
