Joe Vig, Group Vice President of KPI-JCI and Astec Mobile Screens, has been appointed chairman of the Manufacturers & Services Division of the National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association (NSSGA).
Vig takes the reins from Bill Wetta, CEO of Dredging Supply Company, Inc. As chairman, Vig will lead the division as it seeks to work with producer members of NSSGA to provide information concerning equipment, services, supplies and operating procedures to NSSGA members and the industry it serves.
“NSSGA is such an important association for both equipment manufacturers and producers in the aggregate industry. Those of us committed to helping it prosper must be willing to step up and volunteer where we can,” Vig said. “I hope that during my term as chairman, I can bring enthusiasm and knowledge to help the association continue its mission of serving the men and women of the aggregate industry.”
Vig has been a leader in the aggregate and concrete industry for almost 40 years. Previously, he has served as a Product Safety Committee co-chairman for the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), member of the U.S. Committee on Large Dams, and past president of the American Concrete Institute – Dakota Chapter. Before becoming president of Kolberg-Pioneer, Inc. in 2001, he served as the company’s engineering manager. Prior to that, he managed the engineering departments at Morgen Manufacturing Co. and then Essick-Mayco. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology and is a registered Professional Engineer.
His expertise and understanding of the industry made him a prime candidate for the position, said Tim Reagan, senior vice president of membership services for NSSGA.
“We’re excited to see Joe take the Chairmanship of the NSSGA M&S Division,” Reagan said. “His demonstrated leadership skills and his big picture perspective will be very important as the industry manufacturers and suppliers take an increasingly more important role in NSSGA activities.”
