TrueLook has released its 2026 State of Construction Site Security Report, highlighting a significant increase in jobsite theft across the United States.

The report, developed in partnership with Noonlight, analyzed 2,639 confirmed break-ins at active construction sites in 2025, a 50% increase from the previous year.

Key findings from the report include:

  • Confirmed break-ins increased 50% year over year, rising to 2,639 incidents in 2025.
  • More than 40% of break-ins occurred on weekends.
  • The highest-risk period for theft was between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m.
  • Unsecured gates were identified as a common factor in theft incidents.
  • Insider theft and unauthorized after-hours access remained ongoing concerns.
  • Monitoring teams reviewed more than 170,000 alarms during the year.

The report found that materials, tools, generators and equipment were frequent targets, particularly when sites were vacant. It also noted that fencing and locks alone may not be enough to deter determined intruders.

To help reduce risk, the report recommends securing access points, implementing site closeout procedures, improving lighting around valuable assets and using monitored security systems.
