Brigade, a global leader in commercial vehicle safety solutions, has introduced the Backsense Radar On-Screen Display (OSD), a vehicle safety system designed for construction and mining applications.

The system combines radar and camera technologies into a single in-cab display intended to improve operator awareness while also reducing the need for multiple screens. The system uses radar detection and AI-powered cameras to identify any movement or hazards around the vehicle.

The radar system can detect objects up to 60 meters away and is designed to operate in difficult conditions like dust, darkness and poor weather. Detection zones and alerts are displayed on-screen and paired with a five-stage audible warning system.

Backsense Radar OSD supports up to four radar sensors and three camera inputs and is compatible with Brigade's Backeye360 camera system and AI Human Form Recognition technology. Optional adaptive detection can automatically adjust detection ranges based on vehicle speed.

The company said the system is built for harsh operating environments, with radar sensors rated to IP69K standards and designed to operate in temperatures ranging from minus 40 C to 85 C.
