New Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Rule Bans Texting by Interstate Truckers

Today the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) issued a final rulemaking that prohibits texting by commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers while operating in interstate commerce. The agency also imposed sanctions to put enforcement teeth into the rule. These include civil penalties as well as disqualifying violators from operating CMVs in interstate commerce.
