Eurovia’s U.S. operation, Orlando-based Hubbard Construction, recently won four road infrastructure contracts in Florida with a combined value of nearly $200 million.
These contracts are part of the state’s $10 billion Florida Transportation Plan unveiled in January 2015.
The four contracts include:
Widening State Road 528 in Orlando
This project involves widening a 4-mile section of expressway on Florida's Turnpike to I-4. It also includes widening of six bridges, comprehensive refurbishment of two bridges and construction of two new access bridges. Contract value: $92.5 million
Lane upgrades on International Drive in Orange County
International Drive, better known as “I-Drive”, is a major artery in the city of Orlando and a major tourist corridor serving a huge resort that brings together the state’s most-visited attractions (six of the world’s largest theme parks). The project includes recycling of 10 miles of lanes, construction of 5 miles of additional lanes and development of pedestrian bridges. Landscaping, drainage, road sign and road marking works are also included. Contract value: $21.5 million
Supply asphalt to the “I-4 Ultimate Improvement” project over six years
Hubbard Construction will supply more than 1 million tons of asphalt mix, which it will also place. The I-4 project in Central Florida will renovate and widen 15 miles between Orlando and Longwood, including four toll lanes. Contract value: $74 million
Widening 1.5 miles of Florida State Road 21
The goal of this widening project is to improve the flow of traffic on the particularly busy section between McMeekin and Jacksonville in Northern Florida. Traffic, currently standing at 33,700 vehicles per day, is expected to increase nearly 35% over the coming 20 years. Contract value: $15.8 million
