New Seattle Program Aims to Reduce Bad Behavior on Construction Sites

Provision requires the city to monitor worksites for inappropriate behavior and discrimination and allows the city to take action

Lynn Porter, Daily Journal of Commerce

Seattle has added the new Acceptable Worksites provision to all its public works contracts. The provision requires the city to monitor worksites for inappropriate behavior and discrimination. The city can take escalating corrective action, give a poor performance evaluation at the end of the project or refer a worker to the city's Office for Civil Rights. If the city observes a severe situation it can prevent a contractor from bidding on city public works for a certain period.
