Operational testing of the new Panama Canal locks has detected some some water seepage in the new Pacific Locks in a section that separates the middle and lower chambers. The seepage was detected during stress testing through exposure to level differentials much higher than required for normal operations.

The Panama Canal Authority is awaiting a formal report from contractor Grupo Unidos port el Canal. The report will analyze the root cause of the seepage and a recommended repair. It has yet to be determined if the seepage issue will affect the project's completion timeline.
