Residential pool construction activity sank this year, with U.S. pool repair and construction activity dipping 4.6% this year, according to property data provider BuildFax.

An article from Bloomberg notes that the industry has yet to recover from the 2008 recession, citing a drop from 129,000 new pools constructed in 2008 to 54,000 in 2009. Only 75,000 new pools were constructed in 2017, according to the Association of Pool & Spa Professionals.

The article blames a recent housing slowdown as a potential roadblock for 2019 construction.
