The Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA) presented Tilt-Up Series: Dallas, part-one of a series of regional conferences aimed at contractors, architects, engineers and real estate professionals interested in the tilt-up concrete construction industry. The event took place at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center on June 2, 2017.

Over 100 of the north Texas construction, architectural, engineering and real estate development community started off the day with Tilt-Up Future Think, a series of lectures and panel discussions focused on emerging technologies and ideas with promising applicability for the tilt-up construction industry. Presentations were organized in three categories: Concrete Science and Materiality, Reinforcement and Embed, and Digital Fabrication. Event proceedings will be published in the coming weeks.

“Dallas was an excellent choice to host the first ever Tilt-Up Future Think,” says Mitch Bloomquist, executive director of the TCA. “The 15-minute talks were well received and provided insight into the future of construction that challenged attendees' positions on, and perceptions of, technology's role in the industry.”

Following the Tilt-Up Future Think discussions was another series of seminars focusing on concrete finishes, energy conservation and workforce development. Attendees also had the opportunity to receive preparation and testing for the ACI/TCA Tilt-up Supervisor and Technician Certification.

"The Dallas event was the first of a series of regional tilt-up education and networking events the TCA is planning around North America," says Bloomquist. "The TCA recognizes the benefits of coming together as an industry and aims to provide an increasing number of offerings in the future.”

The TCA also hosted a cocktail reception following the full day of seminars for all attendees.

"Tilt-up Series: Dallas was a remarkable opportunity for everyone in the Texas construction community," says Ed McGuire, President of Bob Moore Construction. "The TCA performed a great service by organizing this forum where the top experts in tilt-up construction could share their ideas and new technologies with general contractors, architects and developers in our local market. Thanks to advancements in recent years, tilt-up construction is being used more creatively and in a wider range of applications than ever before. Now, with an understanding of what future technologies and concepts may offer, we will be able to create better, safer and more efficient projects in the years to come."

Tilt-Up Series: Dallas was sponsored by Alliance Architects, Bob Moore Construction, Connect-EZ, MAX USA, Meadow Burke and others whose dedicated support of the tilt-up industry is unsurpassed.
