World Cement Association (WCA) President Song Zhiping has been elected chairman of China Association for Public Companies (CAPCO). In this role, he will lead CAPCO on its work to improve the quality of listed companies as well as drive the enhancement of regulation in China’s capital markets.

Song has more than 40 years of business and management experience in China’s building material industry and 33 years of experience in helming large-scale enterprises.

In addition to his roles at WCA and CAPCO, he is the current chairman of China National Building Materials Group Corporation Limited (CNBM), president of China Enterprise Reform and Development Society, and academician of World Academy of Productivity Science.

“WCA President Song Zhiping is a highly respected figure in the industry, and his experience and insight will be invaluable as chairman of China Association for Public Companies,” says Ian Riley, CEO of the World Cement Association. “Like WCA, CAPCO is a strong promoter of sustainable business and has signed up to the 10 principles of the UN Global Compact with respect to human rights, labor, environment and anti corruption”.

“I am delighted to be supporting CAPCO’s efforts to facilitate standardized regulation of the capital markets and provide a platform of high-level services to the development requests and interests of its members,” adds Zhiping. “I look forward to sharing ideas with CAPCO representatives on how to further promote sound corporate governance and culture”.

CAPCO is a national self-regulatory and non-profit social organization incorporated by publicly listed companies and relevant entities in accordance with the Securities Law of the People’s Republic of China.
