Restoration Partners LLC showcased Basilisk self-healing concrete technology at NRMCA’s ConcreteWorks 2026, marking its first appearance at a major U.S. concrete industry trade show. The company also named Grooms Equipment, based in Graham, North Carolina, as a distributor for the Mid-Atlantic region.

Basilisk Self-Healing Agent is an admixture containing dormant bacterial spores and nutrients. When water enters a crack, the bacteria activate and produce calcium carbonate to seal cracks up to 1 millimeter wide.

The admixture is added during batching at the ready-mix plant without changing standard truck-mixing procedures. According to Restoration Partners, project data indicates self-healing concrete can reduce shrinkage reinforcement by about 40% in watertight structures and eliminate the need for separate waterproofing membranes.

Developed at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, the technology has been used commercially since 2018 on projects in Europe, the Middle East, Japan and Latin America.
