Caterpillar Relocating Excavator, Backhoe Production to Athens, GA

New manunfacturing plant expected to employ as many as 2,400

Caterpillar Inc. is expedted to announce Friday that it is relocating production of small excavators and backhoes from Japan to a manufacturing plant close to Athens, Ga., bringing up to 2,400 jobs.
