Caterpillar's $37 million visitor's center in Peoria, Ill., is schedule to open on October 20, 2012. The visitor's center is intended to be open to dealers, customers, school groups and the general public. An admission price has not been set yet but will include exemptions for dealers and customers.
Some of the noted features of the new visitor's center will be a life-size replica of a two-story tall 797 mining truck which while house a theater, a construction trailer with several simulators of Caterpillar products, and a model of an actual construction site featuring at least 10 Caterpillar machines - among other attractions.
