Trimble has announced the expansion of its Siteworks Machine Guidance Module to now support compact track loaders (CTLs). This update integrates the company's surveying and layout software directly with the machine, allowing operators to use the CTL's bucket for 3D grading and leveling tasks.
First introduced for excavators in 2023, the Siteworks Machine Guidance Module now offers a versatile, all-in-one solution for layout and grade control on one of the most common machines found on jobsites. The system is designed to be easily transferable between multiple machines and job sites, allowing contractors to leverage their existing technology for on-machine guidance.
"We're excited to announce support for compact track loaders, furthering the versatility of this machine type," said Elwyn McLachlan, vice president of civil solutions at Trimble. "With Siteworks Machine Guidance, the operator can easily use the bucket to level materials to design, which would previously require switching to either a grading or box blade attachment."
The system includes a Trimble SPS986 or R780 GNSS Smart Antenna with tilt compensation, which works with a Trimble field tablet or a bring-your-own-device running the Siteworks software. This enables contractors to perform site layout and measurement on foot, then transfer the GNSS receiver and tablet to the compact track loader for in-cab guidance and grade checking. This eliminates the need for a surveyor to be present for grade-checking operations.
For enhanced connectivity and accuracy, the system can be paired with Trimble WorksManager Software to share designs and access remote support. It is also compatible with Trimble correction services like CenterPoint RTX, which delivers high-level accuracy via satellite or cellular networks without the need for a local base station.
The Trimble Siteworks Machine Guidance Module for compact track loaders is available now through the SITECH distribution channel.
