Hitachi Construction Machinery Co. Ltd. and Yanmar Holdings Co. Ltd. signed a letter of intent (LOI) on July 23, 2026, to begin exploring a potential collaboration in the global compact equipment business.

The agreement comes as the construction machinery industry faces significant transformation, including diversifying customer needs, accelerating technological innovation and intensifying global competition. The companies intend to leverage the specialization of Yanmar Compact Equipment alongside the global business infrastructure of Hitachi Construction Machinery to enhance product competitiveness and deliver greater value to stakeholders.

According to the companies, the exploration process will prioritize the uniqueness of each brand identity. Both Hitachi and Yanmar will continue to maintain their independent dealer networks while discussing a broad range of possibilities to contribute to the sustainable growth of the compact equipment segment.

The announcement follows the 2026 Dealer Meeting for Hitachi Construction Machinery Americas, where the company shared its vision for a transition to the LANDCROS brand in April 2027. This transition represents an expanded focus on delivering solutions across the construction, mining, quarrying and infrastructure industries.

By combining Yanmar's heritage in technological prowess and durability with Hitachi's global reach, the manufacturers aim to create new approaches that transcend traditional frameworks between full-line manufacturers and compact equipment specialists.
