The second-generation start/stop feature is now available for Tier 4 Final D5, D8 and D11 and Tier 3 D11 industrial off-road engines.
- Works by shutting down the engine during extended idle periods and turning it back on when the equipment needs to resume operation
- Provides 5% to 15% fuel cost savings depending on how much idling is involved in a given application
- Reduced idling keeps the aftertreatment system at an optimal working temperature, enabling more efficient conversion in the SCR catalyst and lower NOx emissions
- Updated features include hardware integrated into the engine ECU for greater reliability, a stronger, more robust starter motor and a battery voltage monitor
