One worker died and another was seriously injured after a building in Manhattan being demolished collapsed. The building was one of two adjoining buildings being demolished floor by floor for the past several months. The injured worker was trapped beneath a pile of rubble for three hours before rescue workers were able to reach him.
It is not clear what caused the collapse. The remaining 17 construction workers on site escaped uninjured.
