Makita, a manufacturer of power tools and accessories, has unveiled several new cordless products for construction work. Displayed at World of Concrete 2023, the tools are designed to replace traditional equipment powered by cords and gasoline with battery-powered solutions with low noise.

40V Max XGT 18-in. Chain Saws

Consistent with the focus on cordless solutions to replace gas, Makita demonstrated three new 40V max XGT Chain Saws with performance comparable to a 42cc gas saw. The three new models include two saws with 18-in. bars (GCU04 with locking bar nuts and GCU6 with tool-less chain adjustment) and a 16-in. model (GCU05). Each is equipped with a brushless motor for long run time (model GCU04 will make up to 40 cuts in 12-in. diameter cedar on a single charge with a 40V max XGT 4.0Ah battery). All three products offer low noise and zero emissions.

40V Max XGT AVT Rotary Hammer with Dust Extractor (GRH08M1W)

This cordless rotary hammer combines performance with low vibration and dust extraction. The brushless motor delivers up to 135 of 3/8-in. holes on a single charge (40V XGT 4.0Ah battery) and is equipped with Anti-Vibration Technology for low vibration. The kit includes an OSHA Table 1 compliant on-board HEPA Dust Extractor that makes this rotary hammer capable of supporting jobs that require mobility, like working on a scissor lift.

40V Max XGT Concrete Vibrators (5.5-ft., GRV01; 8-ft., GRV02)

Two new cordless concrete vibrators deliver performance and run time for use away from a power source. The new vibrators include an 8-ft. (GRV02) and a 5.5-ft. (GRV01) model. Both deliver up to 15,500 vibrations per minute (VPM) to help increase the strength of concrete. Both have two power settings and deliver up to 60 minutes of run time in normal mode on a single charge of a 40V max XGT 8.0Ah battery.

40V Max XGT 4.5-in and 5-in. X-LOCK Angle Grinder (GAG11)

The new X-LOCK Angle Grinder features a brushless motor with up to 60% faster cutting speed than the previous Makita model in the category (Makita model XAG04) and includes a variable speed control dial to set the speed to the application. The X-LOCK Quick Change System allows for tool-free wheel changes.

18V LXT Deep Capacity Rebar Tying Tool (XRT02)

Makita offers a deep capacity rebar tying tool with the capacity to tie up to #8 x #7 rebar. It delivers up to 4,000 ties of #4 x #4 rebar on a single charge of an 18V LXT 5.0Ah battery.

Makita also showcased the following premium accessories for drilling and cutting at World of Concrete 2023:

80V Max (40V max X2) XGT 14-in. Power Cutter (GEC01)

The new 14-in. power cutter is a battery-powered solution and serves an alternative to gas-powered models. The GEC01 has a full 5-in. of cutting capacity, with cutting power comparable to a 75.6cc gas model* (*Makita EK7651H)

40V Max XGT 8.0Ah Battery (BL4080F)

This highest-capacity XGT battery supports the XGT commitment to create cordless options for equipment traditionally powered by cords, gas or compressed air. It is for XGT equipment-grade products, like the 14-in. Power Cutter (GEC01).

80V Max (40V max X2) XGT 28-lb. AVT Demo Hammer (GMH02)

The XGT 28-lb. AVT Demolition Hammer (GMH02) is powered by two 40V max batteries and an 80V brushless motor for a full 27.5 Joules of impact energy. It’s equipped with Anti-Vibration Technology (AVT). Contractors now have a new cordless option for chipping, breaking, scraping and even digging with a spade bit.

40V Max XGT 10.25-in. Rear Handle Circular Saw (GSR02)

The GSR02 has a 10.25-in. blade and a full 3.75-in. cutting capacity – it will cut a 4x in a single pass. The brushless motor delivers up to 150 cuts in 4x SPF lumber on a single charge of an XGT 40V max battery.

40V Max XGT 7.25-in. Rear Handle Circular Saw (GSR01)

Makita offers the 40V max XGT model GSR01, which has a 7.25-in. blade, a full 2-9/16-in. cutting capacity, and will cut 3x material in a single pass.

Accessories: 3-Cutter SDS-PLUS Bits

Makita’s line of carbide bits includes 3-cutter bits for drilling in reinforced and un-reinforced concrete. They are engineered for drilling, rounder holes and material removal.

Accessories: Rebar Cutting SDS-PLUS Bits

Makita rebar cutting bits feature an alternating cutter teeth design for drilling. The reliable drilling and cutting performance allow contractors to cut through rebar in concrete instead of re-locating the hole.

Premium Diamond Blades

Makita’s expanded range of diamond blades feature a new bond formulation and increased segment heights (from 7 mm to 13 mm) for fast performance.
