While excavating the site of a planned new bridge and interstate connection in Arizona a worker uncovered a human footprint believed to date back more than 2,500 years. The find is possibly the oldest set of human footprints found north of Mexico in the Southwest region.
The footprint was found stamped into the mud of an ancient irrigated field which was dried and covered with sediment between 2,500 to 3,000 years ago. Further excavation has revealed several other sets of footprints of adults, children and even domesticated canines.
