Crews working on repairs related to leaking and the exterior zinc panels on the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis may have also uncovered some flaws in the building's envelope. While crews were reinstalling zinc panels that had come loose after high winds they noticed "several other things that need to be addressed".
The Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority (MSFA) is taking a closer look at the durability of the fastener system and the water resistant barrier on the outside of the stud wall behind the zinc panels.
“We’re still investigating the extent of the issues — whether it is a problem, what it will cost and who will pay. All that is still in discussion,” Rick Evans, executive director and CEO of the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority said during the post-meeting interview. “We just want to make sure [the envelope] is as designed and what we paid for.”
