Curbed San Francisco

San Francisco's Millennium Tower has a sinking foundation problem, and one proposed fix could cost as much as $500 million. The proposed fix calls for securing half of the structure to bedrock using micropiles in the foundation while letting the other half continue to sink until the building straightens out.

Once the structure is level, more piles would be placed to attach the entire building base to bedrock. However, this process could take as long as five years.
