Elon Musk's Boring Company was planning to construct an "proof of concept" tunnel beneath Sepulveda Boulevard in Los Angeles but has since scraped those plans. While the Los Angeles City Council committee recommended speeding up the project by exempting it from environmental review, a coalition of residents and community groups felt otherwise.
The community members filed a lawsuit in May arguing against the exemption. A joint statement by the Boring Company and a group of community activists said the matter had been "amicably settled", and the Boring Company no longer plans to construct the tunnel on the westside of the city.
Instead, the company is now focusing on constructing a tunnel to Dodger Stadium.
