Trump Administration Agrees to Lift Metals Tariffs on Mexico, Canada

On May 17, President Trump agreed to lift tariffs on industrial metals from Mexico and Canada. The U.S. will lift its tariffs within 48 hours, providing that its two trading-partner neighbors adopt tougher monitoring and enforcement measures to prevent subsidized Chinese steel from being shipped to the United States through their territories. President Trump hopes this new deal will pave the way to pass his new North American trade deal between the three countries.
