Mexico Starts World Trade Organization Dispute Settlement Over US Tariffs

Mexico joins Canada and the European Union in seeking World Trade Organization involvement against the US tariffs

Similar to Canada and the European Union, Mexico has said it believes the United State's 25% tariff on steel and 10% tariff on aluminum violate World Trade Organization (WTO) rules. Mexico has previously said it would "hit back" against the U.S. tariffs with ones of its own targeting U.S. farm and industrial products.

Last week, Canada announced it plans to impose tariffs on certain U.S. goods as well as challenge the U.S. tariffs under the North American Free Trade Agreement and the World Trade Organization.
